It is great to see someone young and bright like Marty running in hopes of expanding real freedom. Getting government out of peoples’ lives and letting real freedom reign. Being very much a Libertarian myself I fully support Marty and his campaign.

The following is a statement by Marty Gobin, the Libertarian Party’s candidate for the March 30th provincial by-election in Whitby-Ajax.
My name is Marty Gobin and I am the Ontario Libertarian Party’s candidate for the by-election in the provincial riding of Whitby-Ajax. I am running to promote a respect by the government for the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Some of my positions on current provincial issues include:
Getting the government out of education. Parents should be able to choose what their children learn, not the government.
Supporting the right of a person to control their property. I oppose any environmentalist measures by the government to prevent farmers and other landowners from using their property as they see fit, and from harvesting wildlife which may occupy that land.
Resisting anti-gun measures by the province. The McGuinty government has given in to anti-gun special interest groups as a way of securing votes in the future, harassing gun owners and store owners in the process. I will always support the right of an individual to own property, and will support measures by the government to crack down on criminals instead of sportsmen.
De-socializing health care. Every time an election comes, people are unsatisfied with our current health care system. It’s time we stop throwing taxpayers’ money at useless bureaucracy and instead allow free enterprise to provide better and cheaper health services to the consumer.
Stopping anti-smoking measures by the province. The government is infringing upon property rights by usurping the right of a business owner to determine whether or not a person may smoke on their property. I will support the [abolition] of any anti-smoking laws which infringe upon individual rights.

Marty Gobin is currently a Law and Security Administration student living in Whitby, Ontario. He and a friend are currently taking legal action against the Government of Ontario’s anti-freedom pitbull ban in the Superior Court of Justice.
Marty ran during the federal election in Whitby-Oshawa as a candidate for the Libertarian Party of Canada, to increase public awareness about the increasing government interference in individuals’ lives.
