Madonna sings “Like a Prayer/Dark Ballet” dressed has her character Madame X, with the X-marked eye patch over her left eye.
Characters in gas masks appear.
She grabs one of them by the mask.
Starting at 5 min:
“. . . so naive.”
“They think we are not aware of their crimes.”
Madame X appears to kill the person at that point.
“. . . we are just not ready to act.”
She kills a second one with a full-face gas mask.
“The storm isn’t in the air. It’s inside of us.”
To both sides of the stage are video images of male faces, laughing maniacally (like tyrants).
“I want to tell you about love and loneliness.”
A dancer dies.
The video image has some kind of barren landscape surrounding the stage.
Two women’s faces appear, veiled in black.
“But it’s getting late now.”
Madame X kills another gas-masked figure.
“Can’t you hear outside of your supreme hoodie [?] the wind that’s beginning to howl?”
Then she turns around and blows on the dancers behind her on the stairs.
They all collapse.
Then she and Quavo sing “The Future”:
“Not everyone is coming to the future. . . ”
“Not everyone that’s here is gonna last . . . ”
And the lyrics get more intense towards the end.
