TMR 100 : David Theroux : C. S. Lewis on Mere Liberty and the Evils of Statism
The Mind Renewed | 27 February 2015 (Podcast available on iTunes)
C. S. Lewis warned against big government, scientific dictatorship, technocracy, and dehumanization–people being treated as raw material. Also, he explains what some call “natural law,” or “live and let live,” and the central idea of the individual’s value (developed by Christian theologians and many others) as a universal, objective moral code discovered by reason.
I would say that if we abandon those ideals, as we seem to have done, seduced through manipulation and propaganda, allowing government to invade our homes, bodies and minds in every way in order to “improve” something, then we are more and more treated like cattle or biological machines.
