In Buchanan’s opinion, they have betrayed the true conservative faith, which is to preserve what is good and mind your own business.

“I simply am a non-interventionist,” he says. “Once we win the Cold War, I believe you bring the troops home and you have a traditional American defense, and that’s how the republic endures. … we are undertaking an imperialist, almost crypto-British Empire foreign policy that I believe is going to lead to disaster.”
