CDC: cancer, simian virus 40 (SV40), and polio vaccine fact sheet — 1 Comment

  1. I believe that my husband, who died of non-small cell lung cancer in 1997 at age 50, was infected with SV40. He developed a strange virus in his early 20s that was “undiagnosable” although the doctors said it resembled a simian virus. It kept him in bed with a fever for ten days and would appear every six weeks. As he got older, his virus got milder and milder and appeared less often until it disappeared. Then at age 49, he was diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer that had already spread to his kidneys. It spread to his brain six months before he died. He had some clinical trials at the NIH in Washington which kept him alive for 13 months. When he died, our children were only 12 and 14. I was 49.
