Emery ready for biggest battle yet

As the longtime pot activist braces for his fight against extradition to the U.S. — something he calls “the ultimate moment of my career” — he credits the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency for giving him the platform of a lifetime for his crusade to legalize marijuana.

Liberty means that people should be able to live their own lives and choose their own drugs and medicines without government interference. The War on Drugs is just as misguided as prohibition during the 1920’s. Criminalizing peaceful behavior – victimless “crime” – is wrong. It is aggression, and it is time to move beyond the propaganda – the years of accumulated rationalizations and attempts to control others. Prohibition empowers criminals and increases violence and should be ended.

Marc Emery will be subjected to extreme prison sentences and extremist U.S. government policies. Therefore Canadians should not allow his extradition to go ahead. Nobody should be extradited to the United States except for good reason and only for real crimes. Canada should provide a buffer to its citizens and prevent aggression from foreign governments that trample all over justice.
