IBM and the new smarter feudalism – whatever you say IBM, you and your friends are in charge of everything
The IBM Start Summit 2012
Sustainable Infrastructure for Smarter Cities (October 3, 2012 event)
“The IBM Start Summit 2012 – Sustainable Infrastructure for Smarter Cities, was held on Wednesday 3 October 2012. Just like the previous summits its aim was to convene a group of stakeholders around big sustainability challenges facing the UK…”
Summary and outcomes from the four city workshops includes this document for Leeds (among others):
Planning Actions for “Leeds Action Planning” -> “Get right people to the table”. “Stakeholders” (see above) is Agenda 21 terminology. It’s not about one person one vote. Not democratic.
Hey, what does “Disrupt Budgets” mean? Would that bother the Leeds city council?

So, all areas are covered, and the “planet” too. And guided and directed in a “smarter” way.
An example under “Public Safety” is called “3000 Eyewitnesses” and of course refers to video cameras everywhere, which is what prisons are all about. Governments have lots of extra money in their budgets for video cameras.
Everything must go this way according to these people (including the big foundations). Utilities have to be directed their way. Schools have to be run their way. We have to go with cloud computing (see the whole list at the bottom of this page). We don’t need to vote on it or anything or have the individual choice to opt out because it’s so “smart” already. Who can object?
