In other words they believe that only governments should have access to weapons, not ordinary people. This is how it works in most of the third world where people are at the mercy of governments and private criminal gangs. The ideal world for totalitarians is a world where authoritarian governments and organized criminals run around doing whatever they want to people. The American people (not government) still have a vestige of a rights-based society and it’s standing in the way of a total takeover.
