From 2011 – another Libyan rebel leader connected with al Qaeda was Guantanamo detainee
WikiLeaks: Guantanamo detainee is now Libyan rebel leader By Holly Watt, www.telegraph.co.uk | April 26, 2011
‘A man who spent six years in Guantanamo is now a senior figure in the Libyan rebels’ fight against Colonel Gadaffi…
‘In a newly disclosed file by WikiLeaks that was written in 2005, Abu Sufian Ibrahim Ahmed Hamuda Bin Qumu was identified as a “probable member of Al Qaida and a member of the African Extremist Network”…
‘After fighting against the Russians during the war in Afghanistan, Qumu allegedly moved to Sudan, where he worked for a company belonging to Osama Bin Laden. He was captured in 2001 shortly after 9/11…
‘Qumu was sent back to Libya in 2007 and released from prison in 2008 under an amnesty…’
The chronology of the whole story is confusing.
Also see this Wikipedia article about him: Abu Sufian bin Qumu.
See also this story. They are both connected with or allied with “al Qaeda”. In both cases they are imprisoned by the Americans and then released. And then after being released, they both fight for the Americans and the West against Gaddafi, just like at least one of them fought for the American side against the Russians years before (if accurate) like Osama bin Laden also did. What happened to them in Guantanamo?
Also his name has come up in connection with the 2012 Benghazi attack, but this is denied: Obama Official Says No Evidence Gitmo Detainee Behind Benghazi Attack
