The husband of an Edmonton woman [Nerlin Sarmiento] accused of killing their seven-year-old son says his wife was suffering from severe depression. …
Quoting part of the statement, and I also heard him make the “wrongly prescribed” comment on CBC Radio news this morning:
… We have to acknowledge that the public health system, prescribed medications, patient support and the prevention in this type of situation have failed us and that the province has abandoned us. …
… we are certain that Nerlin Sarmiento loved her son Omar and that she was not in her right state of mind and lost sight of herself under her prescribed medication. Her treatment was wrongly prescribed, considering her fragile and vulnerable state ….
