Commitment to Afghanistan helping Canada: RCMP
www.paktribune.com, May 31 ’06
The head of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is connecting the dots between Canada’s role in Afghanistan and domestic security in Canada.
Commissioner Giuliano Zaccardelli told a Senate committee failed states are breeding grounds for terrorists.
Zaccardelli says “when we can help these countries help themselves, we are actually helping Canada.”
When he is talking about the Canadian commitment to Afghanistan, does he mean that the continued killing of Afghanis by Canadian troops will help us be more secure in Canada and prevent terrorism? Because that argument really seems like a complete load of crap to me.
Afghanistan is a “failed state” partly because it was bombed to hell by the U.S. and NATO. And because of decades of interference from outside powers. Second, terrorists are produced by resentment against your patronizing paternalistic religion of Western social democratic interventionism. This is called Imperialism, and this is what the war in Afghanistan is all about.
And they quote the other guy which helps me – not them – to “connect the dots”: “The deputy director of CSIS says potential terrorists are living in Canadian cities”
Quick, do something. Withdraw from Afghanistan, idiots. The Canadian government has no legitimate business being there.
Oh, but listen to the glorious Conservative Party Defence Minister…
Canada not at war in Afghanistan: O’Connor
www.ctv.ca, May 31 ’06
Canada is not at war in Afghanistan, says Defence Minister Gordon O’Connor.
“I don’t consider this war.”
This is a lie or his self-delusion. The Canadian government is at war in Afghanistan. Battles are constant.
“Since 2002, 16 Canadian soldiers and one diplomat have been killed in Afghanistan.”
“The Commons narrowly voted recently to extend Canada’s mission in Afghanistan an additional two years, until February 2009.”
The Foreign Affairs Minister, Comrade MacKay has a whole fantasy riff on when and how Canada’s mission will be successful eventually.
