Zimbabwe urged to respect press freedom (April 4, 2008)
Canada urges Zimbabwe to respect press freedom (http://afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5hyIhSiUp8I141Yyd-uLmA_1JYhLw)
“Canada’s Foreign Affairs Minister Maxime Bernier on Thursday called on Zimbabwe to respect freedom of the press following the arrest in Harare of two foreign journalists covering the country’s elections.”
Maybe this is a helpful statement to make (unless it is leading to an interventionist policy towards Zimbabwe’s affairs), but the focus is always on other country’s violations of rights and never on improving individual rights here in Canada.
