Japan had previously banned such experiments.

It was wrong last year but this year it’s OK! It’s strange how “progress” works.

The apparent motivation has to do with viable organs for transplant–and this exact “issue” was covered years ago in The Ethical Canary.

The by-line says that “ethical and technical hurdles need to be overcome” so I think we are just going to have to re-establish the ethical hurdles again–maybe someone knocked them over or erased them, so let’s put them back up again. Maybe we can think about these things for the first time ourselves and not let propagandists dominate us.

Mixing the genetics of animals and humans needs to be banned in Canada (if not already) and everywhere.

Tell political representatives to ban this in order to prevent the watering down of human rights and to prevent suffering and cruelty for the affected creatures – human or animal, and to prevent genetic contamination.

Governments should be serving higher values and not the agenda of elite corporate oligarchies.

As a resident of . . . in your constituency (. . . ), I wanted to bring the following to your attention.

My understanding is that the Japanese ban on human-animal embryo experiments has ended and that their government is now supporting this practice (according to https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-019-02275-3). Over the last ten years, apparently Britain and the United States have ended their bans on human-animal hybrids.

Could you tell me what the current status is on this practice in Canada? Is it addressed in the Criminal Code or other laws? Are there committees currently receiving testimony on this issue? Do you have any suggestions about who else I can address my concerns and questions to–government departments for example?

I believe that mixing the genetics of animals and humans is wrong and needs to be banned in Canada if it is not already–and that ban needs to be maintained despite pressures to the contrary.

Enacting or maintaining a ban on this practice would prevent the watering down of human rights, it would prevent the potential suffering caused in resulting organisms, and it would prevent genetic contamination. I believe that human life needs to be seen as sacred–as well as life in general–and that it is not something anyone is qualified to be tampering with. I realize that this is one of many related issues. I think there needs to be at least full democratic control over these types of practices and that every Canadian should be allowed to have the opportunity for full and effective expression on these types of matters relating to basic values.
