Gen. Schwarzkopf Is Skeptical About U.S. Action in Iraq
“It’s obviously not a black-and-white situation over there” in the Mideast, he says. “I would just think that whatever path we take, we have to take it with a bit of prudence.” (1)
Beware the Ides of March, by Justin Raimondo
Includes quote from the State of the Union Address :
“”Throughout the 20th century, small groups of men seized control of great nations … built armies and arsenals … and set out to dominate the weak and intimidate the world. In each case, their ambitions of cruelty and murder had no limit.” (3) A Freudian slip? … “
“Conjuring up the self-fulfilling prophecy of an Iraqi attack on the U.S., the Bushies expect us to quake in fear – and surrender ourselves helplessly to their war plans.” (2)
Destroying the Village to Save Weapons Manufacturers by Heather Wokusch
“With 2002’s Nuclear Posture Review (NPR), however, the Bush administration raised the nuclear ante to critical heights.” (4)
Backgrounder on Nuclear Posture Review by Union of Concerned Scientists
“Released to Congress by the Bush administration in January 2002 and partially leaked two months later, the NPR calls for new types of nuclear weapons, proposes new roles for their use, and emphasizes a strengthened commitment to building new nuclear weapons.” NPR undermines the goal of “preventing the proliferation of nuclear weapons.” (5)
Are we itching for war or just really stupid?
“So, not only do a majority of Americans think Saddam and Osama are in cahoots, but a vast majority thinks that either there were Iraqis in the planes used on 9/11 or don’t know that there weren’t. Are we ready for a war or what?” (6)
“I remember one British officer asking to use the BBC’s satellite phone just after the liberation of Kuwait in 1991. He was talking to his family in England and I watched him carefully. “I have seen some terrible things,” he said.” (7)
