Confessing Christ in a World of Violence

We reject the false teaching that any human being can be defined as outside the law’s protection. We reject the demonization of perceived enemies, which only paves the way to abuse; and we reject the mistreatment of prisoners, regardless of supposed benefits to their captors.

I’m a ex-Christian, but I’m very pleased that these Christian leaders condemn what is going on with U.S. government lawlessness and war worship. It appears to me there are many evangelicals on the list because I recognize the name “Fuller Theological Seminary”. I just can’t escape the fact that many Christians have some powerful things to say.

Cambridge Solidarity with Iraq report on “Denial of Water to Iraqi Cities”.

“Water supplies to Tall Afar, Samarra and Fallujah have been cut off during US attacks in the past two months, affecting up to 750,000 civilians. This appears to form part of a deliberate US policy of denying water to the residents of cities under attack…”

Protocol I, Article 54 of the Geneva Conventions:

“It is prohibited to attack, destroy, remove or render useless objects indispensable to the survival of the civilian population, such as food-stuffs, agricultural areas for the production of foodstuffs, crops, livestock, drinking water installations and supplies and irrigation works, for the specific purpose of denying them for their sustenance value to the civilian population or to the adverse Party, whatever the motive, whether in order to starve out civilians, to cause them to move away, or for any other motive.”
