Comments on the federal Canadian Conservative Party and leadership candidate Roman Baber, including Jordan Peterson interview (v. 4)
Edited, Version 4 – added “CLARIFICATION” towards the bottom
I have quoted many of the anti-mandates statements made by MPP Roman Baber in the Ontario legislature. He has very consistently opposed the COVID lockdown measures and vaccine mandates.
Since then, Roman Baber has been running for the federal Conservative Party leadership.
It would be impressive if the Conservative Party elected him as leader as he is obviously very intelligent and principled as you will see from the interviews below.
It would represent a major shift away from globalism if the Conservative Party elected someone who stood up against these totalitarian and anti-human measures.
Except for Leslyn Lewis, who I appreciate for her “socially conservative” views and for her campaign statements on COVID measures, I don’t think the other leadership candidates even come close to his clear record and clear words in opposing COVID measures.
Roman Baber
Jordan Peterson summarizes Roman Baber’s principled actions and positions before their interview. Roman makes very clear statements of his positions. They discuss many topics, including how dissent has been suppressed, censored, and “cancelled” by government, media and professional associations:

(Peterson mentions the very real concern about food shortages in this interview).
Canadian Politician Roman Baber joins Dr Peterson to discuss the state of the Conservative Party in Canada and their approach to climate change, and the devastating hit Canada’s reputation has taken at the international level.
Roman Baber is a former Member of Ontario’s Provincial Parliament. He is running for Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada because he will not “sit back while Canadians are losing faith in Canada’s democracy and Canadian opportunity.” He was removed by Doug Ford from the Ontario government caucus after calling out the collateral harm of lockdowns in January 2021. Since then, Roman has been a staunch advocate in favour of a balanced covid response and in particular against lockdowns due to their toll on the health and mental health of Canadians. Roman brought legislation to cut MPP pay to CERB levels while Emergency Orders are in place, commenced and is in litigation against the Attorney General of Ontario over Canadians’ right to protest and worship outdoors and recently brought a Bill to outlaw workplace mandates. Roman is passionate about and is well familiar with justice, transit and autism policy.
Roman was born and lived in the former Soviet Union until he was almost 9. He then lived in Israel until he immigrated to Canada with his family at age 15 and settled in the heart of the north Toronto district he now represents. Roman obtained a BA from York University and graduated from law school at the University of Western Ontario. During his last year of law school, Roman was a supervisor with the school’s legal aid funded clinic. Roman was called to the Ontario Bar in 2006 and practiced civil and commercial litigation until his election in 2018. He served as Chair of the Ontario Provincial Parliament’s Standing Committee on Justice Policy from September 2019 until January 2021.
Roman is an occasional lecturer at an after-school program, engaging high school students on constitutional and criminal law topics. He loves Canadian kindness, the Toronto Raptors and his special someone, Nancy Marchese.

He makes strong positive statements about making full use of Canada’s resources, including fossil fuels for the benefit of Canadians, and turning Canada into a resource superpower. I think this directly challenges destructive globalist, resource-monopolizing policies (which are portrayed as benevolent and “green” by the corporate media).
Roman Baber explains his positions very well in this interview:

Campaign Life Coalition presents some pros and cons about his social positions. They present legitimate concerns and also some positives:

Roman Baber’s Platform which I think is excellent:
1. DEFEND CANADA’S DEMOCRACY
- Pass federal legislation to ban all vaccine passports, mandates and medical discrimination
- Restore the Freedom of Speech by repealing the Liberals’ censorship laws, defending regulated professionals, entering into agreements with social media giants and ensuring complete financial independence of the media
- Reinstate Parliamentary Democracy by decentralizing power away from the PMO, allowing free votes on matters of conscience and encouraging MPs to express views without fear of reprisal
- Defend Quebecers against Quebec Bill 21 and Bill 96 by all lawful means available
2. RESTORE CANADIAN OPPORTUNITY
- Limit the growth in the annual increase in spending to the target rate of inflation (2%)
- End Equalization by the end of the first term
- Cut the personal income tax in the amount saved from Equalization payments by raising the Personal Amount (the basic personal amount exempt from income tax)
- Repeal the Carbon Tax
- Phase out Supply Management
- Reduce barriers and encourage competition in federally regulated industries
3. MAKE CANADA A NATURAL RESOURCES SUPERPOWER
- Repeal Bill 96 (the Anti-Pipelines Bill)
- Rethink, legislate and negotiate the construction of Energy East, Trans Mountain, Northern Gateway and the XL Keystone pipelines
- Clarify and legislate the “duty to consult” and re-balance environmental timelines and priorities
- Encourage the creation of refinery capacity
- Reconsider Canada’s approach to mining and encourage growth of the mining industry
4. REINSTATE TRUST IN GOVERNMENT
- Say what we believe and do what we believe is right
- Form a judicial inquiry into the handling of the COVID-19 Pandemic
- Review and reform of the Lobbying Act
- Evaluate the Representation Formula
- Restore and defend the Rule of Law
Leadership Candidates (https://www.cpcleadership.ca/candidates/)
Website of Roman Baber: www.joinroman.ca
Website of Leslyn Lewis who is an MP: leslynlewis.ca. I’m not sure if she spoke out or not about COVID measures before the Freedom Convoy happened. If Canadians have heard any federal Members of Parliament, Conservative or otherwise, speak out against COVID measures before the Freedom Convoy, I would really like to hear about it.
Jean Charest’s leadership platform has no hint of opposition to COVID measures or concern about rights and freedoms: www.jeancharest.ca/plan
Scott Aitchison (https://votescott.ca/policy/) seems very weak on COVID measures, mentions something briefly about “federal” vaccine mandates (no hint of condemning provincial measures). I’m very skeptical of his “Canadian Values” (https://votescott.ca/policy/defend-canadian-values/) section which has nothing about rights and freedoms and mentions nothing about censorship. There is not a hint of any effort to acknowledge these concerns. Various non-conservative policies are mentioned in his policy sections.
Pierre Poilievre speaks in generalities on his home page and in his “Reclaim Canadian Values” page (https://www.pierre4pm.ca/reclaim_canadian_values). His statements do not mention COVID measures explicitly–or even imply them in my opinion. He mentions “freedom of speech and belief.” Is that it? Very slick. If you know of any clear statements he has made against COVID measures recently (probably nothing before the Freedom Convoy), let me know and I will post them. His website is very clear that he puts out generalities such as “Take back control of your life” and “Join me in making Canada the freest nation on earth.” He runs on image and vague truisms. I think he is likely to fulfill the role the oligarchy wants from the Conservative Party.
CLARIFICATION (August 23, 2022): Poilievre has clearly opposed COVID mandates since the freedom convoy in February. For example, he tabled a bill to ban COVID-19 vaccine mandates in June: https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/pierre-poilievre-vaccine-mandate-ban-1.6476419. He called for Trudeau to end COVID measures in February at the time of the freedom convoy: https://tnc.news/2022/02/11/pierre-poilievre-calls-for-trudeau-to-drop-covid-19-restrictions/. But what did he do or say before that? And what are his promised policies if he wins the Conservative Party leadership? It’s clear to me that the Conservative Party is just there to appease those in the public who will be happy with just getting rid of Trudeau. I could observe from the start that there was no opposition coming from the Conservative Party against COVID measures. They were all in it from the beginning. It was never just Trudeau and the Liberal Party. The same old left-right trick is going to be used to divert energy away from effective action and to continue the agenda towards digital ID and currency and bio-surveillance and the use of the climate scam to bring austerity and depopulation. Effective action from the public would be to refuse to cooperate and participate in the new virtual prison that is being built around them.
The main federal (and provincial) parties, including the Conservative Party, have a clear history of participating in globalist agendas–military intervention, trade, overall direction of hyper-surveillance and intrusion into peoples’ lives. In my view, the major parties are part of a control system. It’s the same in the United States. All sides are controlled as Carroll Quigley mentioned in his book, Tragedy and Hope (but I hope it’s not in an absolute sense). They’re playing a game of false opposition as left and right advance different aspects of the overall agenda.
The Conservative Party leadership even under Harper did not block the “gender” legislation advanced by the NDP and Liberals. They could have but they didn’t.
As far as I know, they have not sought to reverse this nor the extremist euthanasia regime that the Liberals introduced.
They did not oppose totalitarian COVID measures except very weakly (which provincial conservative governments also implemented). Someone could argue with this perhaps. Show us the evidence please. All I saw was that they associated themselves with the Freedom Convoy and then we started hearing some opposition from them.
If members of the Conservative Party did some shaking up and voted for someone who stood by principles, it would be a breath of fresh air and would shift the country in a positive direction.
