“Author and journalist Linda McQuaig on what she sees as the growing influence of the ultra-wealthy on Canadian university campuses.”
This doesn’t really reflect my point of view about taxes and the use of tax money, but I think it’s a good interview, since it touches on “the established order”, who they are, and the influence they have because of their wealth. It gets into the subject of how much control billionaire Peter Munk has over the Munk School of Global Affairs at the University of Toronto, which houses the Canadian International Council (a newer name for the old Canadian Institute for International Affairs, i.e. CFR). See CIC Senate.
Linda McQuaig calls it right-wing even though people like Bob Rae are members along with everyone else, and even though Steve Paikin calls Canada’s foreign policy consensus “centre left”. She mentions how the federal and provincial governments fund the Munk Centre also.
The establishment will seem left-wing or right-wing depending on your point of view, if you follow the false left-right paradigm – it doesn’t matter – they’re not populist on either side. Their goal is so-called “free trade”, managed global trade for the benefit of large corporations, which is redistribution of our wealth, integration of North America (as none of them oppose that), the construction of the Asia-Pacific and European blocs also, erosion of national sovereignty, building up a police state (since that’s what’s happening and who objects?), endless war obviously just judging by the actions of Canadian governments since 2001, carbon taxes (redistribution of wealth), and world governance. Just judging by reality.
