Harvard Study Finds Fluoride Lowers IQ (http://www.fluoridealert.org/articles/nyscof_harvard/)
www.fluoridealert.org, New York State Coalition Opposed to Fluoridation | July 24, 2012
‘Harvard University researchers’ review of fluoride/brain studies concludes “our results support the possibility of adverse effects of fluoride exposures on children’s neurodevelopment.” It was published online July 20 in Environmental Health Perspectives…’
‘“The children in high fluoride areas had significantly lower IQ than those who lived in low fluoride areas,” write Choi et al…’

Does fluoride in drinking water hurt your brain?
Dr. Keith Ablow, FoxNews.com | August 22, 2012
‘…A recently published Harvard study showed that children living in areas with highly fluoridated water have “significantly lower” IQ scores than those living in areas where the water has low fluoride levels. In fact, the study analyzed the results of 27 prior investigations …
‘… Fluoride may be a developmental neurotoxicant that affects brain development (in children) at exposures much below those that cause toxicity in adults….’
‘…This information is very important, from a psychiatric standpoint, because we have witnessed rising rates of …’
[Comment: He’s referring to water fluoridation, etc. But I notice also that the fluoride (F) ion is in some of the psychiatric drugs.]
Impact of Fluoride on Neurological Development in Children
Harvard School of Public Health | July 25, 2012
‘ … In a meta-analysis, researchers from Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH) and China Medical University in Shenyang for the first time combined 27 studies and found strong indications that fluoride may adversely affect cognitive development in children….’
‘…Some studies suggested that even slightly increased fluoride exposure could be toxic to the brain. Thus, children in high-fluoride areas had significantly lower IQ scores than those who lived in low-fluoride areas…’
Study published: Environmental Health Perspectives on July 20, 2012.
I couldn’t find this study at PubMed Central. (ehponline.org temporarily redirects there). I found copies of the study here and here.

“…In conclusion, our results support the possibility of adverse effects of fluoride exposures on children’s neurodevelopment. Future research should formally evaluate dose-response relations based on individual-level measures of exposure over time, including more precise prenatal exposure assessment and more extensive standardized measures of neurobehavioral performance, in addition to improving assessment and control of potential confounders.”
