Article discusses the method and history, including Newton, and how the Pentagon consulted the “Bible Code” author for information on bin Laden.
“The idea of a secret text embedded in the Bible is hardly new. In the 12th century, European rabbis wrote about discovering meaningful words hidden in the Hebrew text of the Torah.”(1)
Maybe there is nothing to it, or maybe there is some weak psychic effect with complicated random techniques like this one. It is probably just as unreliable as interpreting biblical symbols in Ezekiel or Revelation.
As to the apocalyptic predictions mentioned, our worst fears are reflected in the Bible anyway. For me, there is no reason to believe the Bible is the Word of God. Rather than feel fearful (or hopeful) that the world will end, it would be healthier to apply widsom from the Bible or other books in order to make our lives and world more stable.
