The newsletter/updates feature is discontinued. My apologies to the original newsletter subscribers. There were a lot of technical concerns and spam subscriptions with both plugins, and it wasn’t balanced out by any new interest in using it.

Mostly, from what I can tell, the newsletter feature just exposes my site to hacking attempts–with invalid email addresses–and therefore to resource usage problems–and to spam reports (probably because of my efforts to resolve unconfirmed email addresses).

I reconfigured the settings and the placement of the newsletter subscription widget. Please check your spam tray when you are entering a valid email address for a legitimate subscription.

I am just going to see how things go for a week to see if there is actual interest. Maybe the newsletter is too much overhead. My apologies to actual subscribers.

So many of the subscriptions appear to be invalid email addresses, so I am having difficulty troubleshooting what is going wrong. I have to go through another batch of them.

Then you may have been affected by technical problems I was having with my email system or problems resulting from the change in newsletter software. My apologies.

The newsletter is meant to keep readers informed about new posts on the website.

Some email addresses on the subscriber list are unconfirmed, but I know that someone was flooding the subscriber list with invalid email addresses also, so there is no way to tell other than sending out again new confirmation emails, which I did today.

When you subscribe you should get a confirmation email that you need to confirm. Please check your spam tray.
