Pledge to uphold our heritage of freedom – Diefenbaker’s signing statement, Canadian Bill of Rights
Image of the Bill of Rights with Diefenbaker’s statement:
“I am a Canadian, a free Canadian, free to speak without fear, free to worship God in my own way, free to stand for what I think right, free to oppose what I believe wrong, free to choose those who shall govern my country. This heritage of freedom I pledge to uphold for myself and all mankind.”:
The Right Honourable John G. Diefenbaker, Prime Minister of Canada,
House of Commons Debates, July 1, 1960.
Let’s parse this pledge out and apply it to the current COVID policies and slave lifestyle which contradict it.
I am a Canadian
a free Canadian
free to speak without fear
free to worship God in my own way
free to stand for what I think right
free to oppose what I believe wrong
free to choose those who shall govern my country
This heritage of freedom I pledge to uphold for myself and all mankind
This is now OUR pledge. This is what we do. This is who we are.
Everything that contradicts these values is on its way out.
