Not to say the old structures of society are perfect, but here are some very revealing quotes from psychiatrists, and from others about psychiatry. These indicate that many of them have been serving an ideological and political agenda.
This page includes quite a few interesting statements attributed to Canadian Dr. G. Brock Chisholm, psychiatrist and co-founder of the World Federation of Mental Health, first Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) at the UN, also a World Federalist. One quote attributed to him, for example:
“To achieve world government, it is necessary to remove from the minds of men their individualism, loyalty to family traditions, national patriotism and religious dogmas…”
“Every child in America entering school at the age of 5 is mentally ill because he comes to school with certain allegiances to our founding fathers, toward our elected officials, toward his parents, toward a belief in a supernatural being, and toward the sovereignty of this nation as a separate entity. It’s up to you as teachers to make all these sick children well — by creating the international child of the future”
(“During remarks made at the Childhood International Education Seminar in Denver … 1973.”)
“Drs. Pierce and Fricchione sought to develop an infrastructure that could provide clinical, educational and research contributions to reduce the global burden of psychiatric related disease, and to prepare a new generation of twenty-first century global psychiatrists to work with international populations in America and abroad.”
