Canada Mad-Cow Results Expected Sunday

Test results of Canada’s latest mad-cow case are expected by Sunday, said a Canadian Food Inspection Agency, or CFIA, representative.
As a Canadian, I would like to hear some reassurances from the beef industry – in the grocery store – that the meat I buy is safe, that they do everything they can to test it. And I would like to see the farmers themselves label it with a promise that they take steps to avoid this disease. I would like to hear the producers take responsibility and talk directly to consumers, because I don’t buy in to this “government protects us” garbage. Instead, what I expect to hear is another round of trade propaganda from governments just so the beef keeps moving to the States. What about Canadians? It looks to me like the government protects beef producers and shields them from criticism and having to be accountable to Canadian consumers. Centralized regulation by the government also seems to lead to all the Canadian producers being tarred with the same brush.
