A clear, concise and brilliant explanation of liberty.

David Bergland

Libertarianism in One Lesson

I recommend this book because the author presents principled libertarian policies. I found it very helpful in gaining a better understanding of libertarianism. I purchased a used 5th edition.

James Bovard

The Bush Betrayal

Thomas Fleming

The Illusion of Victory: America in World War I

Henry Hazlitt

Economics in One Lesson: the Shortest and Surest Way to Understand Basic Economics

Ludwig Von Mises

Human Action: A Treatise on Economics

***An amazing book and very important to understanding economics and freedom. Difficult in places, but inspiring. Also available online here

Jan Narveson

The Libertarian Idea

Respecting Persons in Theory and Practice: Essays on Moral and Political Philosophy

See also my comments on this book and other information on Jan Narveson here.

Isabel Paterson

The God of the Machine

Ayn Rand

Note: Ayn Rand has fallen out of favor with me, especially because of the elitist message in her books (and also the focus on selfishness). However, her books, especially Atlas Shrugged, may shake some people – like myself – into understanding personal volition, autonomy, thinking for yourself, not blindly following and mindlessly sacrificing for others. And of course the importance of individualism, rights and freedom. But the spin even in Atlas Shrugged really seems in my opinion to bolster the elite class. Rights and “freedom” for them, nuts to the rest of us. And I think that’s deliberate. I’ve presented some my own later understanding of things
here.

Atlas Shrugged

Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal

The Virtue of Selfishness

Philosophy: Who Needs It

Dick J. Reavis

The Ashes of Waco: An Investigation

Murray N. Rothbard

The Ethics of Liberty

Mary J. Ruwart

Healing Our World in an Age of Aggression
