Body scanners violate individual rights
Attention: Canadian Members of Parliament, Prime Minister, Transport Minister, “bidders”, etc.
By Alan Mercer
This note is with regard to the federal government’s installation of full body scanners at major Canadian airports, or its plans to do so.
According to this article at www.presstv.ir, the full-body scanners are equivalent to “virtual strip searching” and “see through clothing to produce images of the whole body.” According to the article, a top official for the UN Human Rights Council, Martin Scheinin, says that the devices violate individual rights.
Did you know they violated individual rights? I knew that already. I didn’t need the UN to tell me that, but good for him. They violate privacy. They are an offence against human beings. They are the infliction of humiliation.
Since there are many people who are being violated by this device, whose privacy is being utterly destroyed by this device, and many others who now feel even more intimidated at the thought of going to airports, I really, really wonder what you think your “anti-terrorism” strategies are all about. Is it “anti” terrorism? Or is it actually terrorism? And I wonder whether you are very proud of yourselves for participating in the destruction of human decency and dignity. Is this what you call “security”? Making people feel insecure is “security”. Right? Terrorizing people is “anti-terrorism”. Right?
Because I really don’t plan to fly anywhere – ever. Maybe that’s just me. Maybe there’s something wrong with me. Could be. Some of us just aren’t fitting in to your brave new world. It seems to be lacking in so many ways, like a pile of manure instead of a meal. It’s not the kind of thing I want to dive into. Why don’t you keep it? Use it on each other instead. Have at it. It’s what you’re offering to Canadians. Maybe you’re doing that deliberately. I wonder if anyone ever considers that they’re actually being insulted by the people in power. I do. I get it.
And I won’t let my family members go through such devices, and I would feel terrible shame to stand by and watch them be humiliated by these devices.
And I would be disgusted if Canadians let these devices continue. I’m sorry I can’t help that people are so docile and domesticated that they would submit to these devices just so they can travel on a “fun” trip to Florida or wherever. I wonder if they’re getting tired of it.
And all the rationalizations out there – I can hear them right now – all the excuses Canadians are making for your unforgivable policy and your unforgiveable devices.
Maybe humiliation and fear of airports is the point though. Maybe your bosses – the banks you pay our money to – maybe they don’t really want people to travel in the near future without special permission. It fits – with the DUI laws, with the global warming propaganda. With the travel card proposals we hear about. It all fits.
You talk so much about terrorism, I mean you have been going on and on about it for the last decade, you people. And boy, there is so much to discuss about that. But you’ve got it all neatly wrapped up and packaged. You’ve got it all worked out – the “good guys”, the “bad guys”. These measures are always for our “security”. Yes, you are the “protectors” and you’re “protecting us” by taking pictures of our naked bodies. You guys have the respectability thing down pat, don’t you? You have the power. You have the whip. You have the body scanners. You have our money and you spend it on pounding people into the ground. Sometimes literally like in Afghanistan.
And really, isn’t this kind of device a form of terrorism? Is it a mistake you plan to correct? It doesn’t look like the end of it, because the government announcement from January also mentions other devices of privacy violation:
“The Ministers also announced that the Government of Canada will soon issue a request for proposal for passenger behaviour observation for passenger screening at major Canadian airports.
“The request will seek a company to develop a passenger behaviour observation program and training. Passenger behaviour observation screening consists of focusing on the passengers exhibiting suspicious behaviour, which could be an involuntary response to a fear of being discovered.”
In other words, this refers to a system that tries to read peoples’ intentions and fish for unacceptable emotions – you know, like the rage men will feel when they see their mothers, daughters and wives being scanned.
And this is what the technology “bidders” mentioned in the announcement spend their time and money on, all the private companies who participate in creating these types of disgusting devices, and all the airports going along with this. Just a bunch of goons bought off by big bucks. A pack of prostitutes building a world of tyranny. You must feel very proud of yourselves for destroying freedom.
